COMPANY INFO
Fattoria La Ripa belong to S.A. Santa Brigida from 1941.
In the 15th century La Ripa was owned by Anton Maria di Noldo Gherardini, father of Monna Lisa (the Gioconda of Leonardo da Vinci) who gave the property to his daughter as dowry when she married Francesco del Giocondo. Francesco commissioned to his friend Leonardo da Vinci the famous portrait of his young wife. La Ripa is in the Chianti Classico area, between the provinces of Florence and Siena, in the municipality of Barberino Tavarnelle, on Strada Provinciale dei Poggi, going from San Donato in Poggio to Castellina in Chianti.
La Ripa produces wines and extra virgin olive oil since the 1400’s. The vineyards and olive groves, at an altitude of 400m, are all well exposed to the sun on ground rich in alberese and galestro, the two oecenic stones from which its soil originates. Fattoria La Ripa’s products are certified organic, controlled by the italian authorities and mainly exported to several countries in the world.
PRODUCTS
Chianti Classico DOCG
Chianti Classico DOCG Fattoria La Ripa (bio), Certified Organic red dry wine, made with 90% Sangiovese and 10% Canaiolo grapes, 13,5% alcohol, 5,6 g/l Acidity, 27,60 g/l Net dry extract, produced using selected handpicked grapes from the vineyards of the property at approx. 400m asl, planted on poor stony soil (mainly Galestro and Alberese stones) with an average pH of 8,2 and more than 40% carbonates, naturally limiting the quantity in favour of the quality of the production. Vineyards have a density of roughly 5.000 plants per hectare. Vinified with the traditional method, with tumultuous fermentation accompanied by “délestages” in stainless steel tanks followed by malo-lactic fermentation in concrete tanks. The ageing process takes place in French oak “tonneaux” and then in the bottle. Colour: Deep ruby red, thinning at rim; Bouquet: Black cherry, iris, spices and tobacco; Flavour: intense fruits, cherry, high persistence, well balanced structure.
Chianti Classico DOCG Riserva

The considerable age of the vines is a key factor of the quality of our Riserva, drastically limiting the quantity, but increasing the ageing potential of the wine. Vinified with the traditional method, with tumultuous fermentation (carried on between 25 °C and 30°C ) accompanied by a gentle maceration and then spontaneous malo-lactic fermentation.
